My reg'ed copy of avast (latest version) worked fine under 10.5. I've upgraded to 10.6 and expected some software to have bugs or not work until there upgraded, but avast! On my mac has a really annoying one.
Well it is now 2014 (two years later). Where the f**k is the business version? The only thing I have been able to find is Avast Pro for Mac through European resellers. A.) As a U.S.
Resident I don't want to go through European resellers. B) Avast Pro for Mac isn't really the product I want. The product I want is Avast endpoint protection for mac (which would integrate seamlessly with the small office administration console and Enterprise Admin console). Why hasn't this been developed yet? I can't think of a good reason.
I think there is certainly a market for such a product (your competitors are already doing this!).

It also caused intermittent system unresponsiveness, and a popular benchmarking app (a crude but quantitative tool) recorded a 10% reduction in overall system performance. Like most 'anti-virus' programs, it's junk.
Don't bother with such garbage. Let your Mac work as it was designed to work, without burdening it with worthless trash.
The advertisement for 'CleanMyMac' should be dismissed with extreme prejudice, as should all such ads. Do not install any program claiming to 'clean' your Mac unless you want real problems. They are all scams with one and only one purpose - to take your money, which is the only thing they do well. OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple. To use your Mac properly, just use your head.
