How to video by Michael Mejia Note not sure why my other video got cut doen to 2:min re uploading hopefully it works. MovieIcon - Adds cover art to your movie files. Quickly change icons of your movie collection to actual cover art with MovieIcon! Just drag video files into MovieIcon and it will find and apply movie cover to your Finder icon. Same way as anything else in iTunes. Get the cover art from Amazon or somewhere else, and go to the artwork tab or box (depending on whether you are adding to one or a group of files) by right-clicking or control-clicking and hitting 'Get Info' (or hitting command+shift+i) and then paste in the cover art.
How can you add DVD cover art to riped DVD's in iTunes for Apple TV?The workflow usually depends on the type file container to which you are trying to add the 'artwork.' MP4 and M4V file containers can be associated with a single external file in iTunes which can function as a 'poster frame.' On the other hand, since I normally chapter my files, I end up with a MOV file container and have to designate a movie frame as the 'poster frame' or embed external 'artwork' within the MOV file and then designate its use as the poster frame.
Also where can you get the cover art for the movies you have on DVD to add it?That is up to you. I use small 'posters' from places like Amazon.com or simply 'copy' a frame from the converted movie and add identifying text if I don't like any of the online 'artwork.'

Here is an example of an online 'poster' which I modified and embedded in a movie. While this is an example of one I made myself.
I guess since this is really bumming me I will explain - Earlier this morning someone said in order to change the artwork, I needed to delete the artwork in the artwork tab and simply drag what I wanted INTO that slot. Ok, sounding confoundingly elementary. So I got an episode I was looking for, searched for that episode artwork on the net, copied it into word and just drug it over to the empty artwork slot. And sure enough, that work I pumped my fist in joy becasue ATV/ITunes used the 1st non-black scene of a show as its default artwork. So I started again, this time on a differnt show.what I did however was find a good screenshot in VLC and then drug that PNG file into the artwork section.but this time nothing.i was getting the green plus as though it were going to work but.I got the default quicktime logo instead. Hmm.so this time I repeated the steps (who wants that ugly Q as an episodes artwork right?).
I figured it was the format of the pic, the format of the one that did work was a JPEG so I saved the screenshot as a JPEG.still.no love. Again, and again. In defeat, I had to reencode the entire 50min ep so that I could get that default ugly (but prettier than the Q) artwork (screenshot) The dimensions of the one that work and the ones that didnt were different, but I know that can't be the issue. Mp4.Had hoped you were using a MOV file container which does not all you to associate an external file as you can with M4V and MP4 file containers. So much for that being the source of your problem. Earlier this morning someone said in order to change the artwork, I needed to delete the artwork in the artwork tab and simply drag what I wanted INTO that slot. This is the proper way to do it. The reason for removing the 'old' graphic is merely to remove the reference pointer.
Files without an external graphic reference usually point to a frame within the movie at about the 10 second mark. Severing this reference and then drag 'n dropping a new file stores the actual graphic in the 'Album Artwork' folder and associates a link to it with the movie file. Both MP4 and M4v files can do this but MOV files cannot.
So I started again, this time on a differnt show.what I did however was find a good screenshot in VLC and then drug that PNG file into the artwork section.but this time nothing.i was getting the green plus as though it were going to work but.I got the default quicktime logo instead.Okay, this does not sound right. I would have tried a different source file here -- one either created, captured, or downloaded from a different but trusted source like a 500 x 500 Amazon.com DVD file. BTW, was this movie also in an M4V file container? Hmm.so this time I repeated the steps (who wants that ugly Q as an episodes artwork right?). I figured it was the format of the pic, the format of the one that did work was a JPEG so I saved the screenshot as a JPEG.still.no love.JPG, PNG, GIF, TIF, and PSD graphics are all supposed to be acceptable. I have also used PCT files without problem. In defeat, I had to reencode the entire 50min ep so that I could get that default ugly (but prettier than the Q) artwork (screenshot)An M4V or MP4 should automatically revert to a frame at about the 10 second mark as described above when the external file reference is deleted.
